The keynote speaker was none other than Dr. Susie Wise of the d.school at Stanford University. Dr. Wise, the author of the groundbreaking book “Design for Belonging,” guided attendees on how to cultivate a sense of belonging in any organization, school, or community through simple design tools. This must-attend event was a great opportunity for our staff and Teachers and is open to anyone looking to build diversity, equity, and inclusion in their group or organization.

Late Start at all sites but Casterlin on Wednesday March 8

Hello SHUSD families
Due to hazardous road conditions and continued inclement weather, all schools except Casterlin will have another late start tomorrow March 8, 23. Casterlin will remain closed. At this time we plan to run the buses two hours after their regularly scheduled time. If the buses are unable to get through, drivers will contact their riders in the morning. If anything changes, the district will update you as soon as possible.

School Status Update

All Schools except Casterlin are back in session Friday March 3rd. The schools will have a normal start time.

School Status update for Thursday March 2nd due to power outages, road conditions, and weather.

For South Fork High and Miranda Junior High, the power is still out in Miranda. If power is on in the morning, school will be in session with a late start. Benbow Garberville and Redway buses will run two hours later than the regular schedule.

Redway will have a late start Thursday, March 2nd due to weather and road conditions. The buses will run 2 hours later than normal.

Osprey Learning Center will have a late start. The van will run 2 hours later than normal.

Whitethorn will have a late start Thursday, March 2nd due to weather and road conditions. There will be no morning bus. We will let you know by noon tomorrow if an afternoon bus pick up will be possible.

Casterlin families, due to continued unsafe road conditions, weather and power outages, Casterlin schools will remain closed.

If anything changes we will update you in the morning.

School Closure Update

South Fork High and Miranda Junior High: No School Today Wednesday March 1. PGE was unable to restore Miranda's power in time for school this morning. Redway, Whitethorn, and Osprey Continuation are open to day with a late start. We will send updates when we have more information.

School is in session Wednesday March 1st at all schools with power. Start times and bus pick up times are 2 hours later due to weather and road conditions. Casterlin schools remain closed. Even though Miranda power is out currently, we expect the power to be on for school tomorrow. If anything changes, we will update you in the morning.

All Schools Closed Due to Weather

All Southern Humboldt schools will continue to be closed Tuesday, February 28 due to weather and unsafe road conditions. SHUSD will send you an update on Tuesday afternoon. Stay safe and warm.
