Purpose: to further unite the 5-8 grade students and families within the school district/ to expand and
ignite students ’views and level of appreciation for diverse cultural backgrounds/ to further unite
parents, students, and school staff, encouraging them to interact in a positive way, building school
climate, and highlighting the benefits of enjoying a communal and culturally diverse meal together.

 Food is served in buffet style with cooking groups and their one adult supervisor serving their
samples, explaining the cultural origins of the dish, and engaging in friendly and polite interactions with
their peers and school community members.
